The transformation of Luxor LAX into the first Las Vegas’ permanent eSports venue is near completion. Luxor LAX used to be a casino, nightclub, and hotel, and it will open its doors on March 22, 2018. The Esports Arena is the latest effort to transform Las Vegas into the ultimate eSports hub in the world.
The Esports Arena
The project is a collaboration between casino MGM Resorts International, and Allied Esports, which has a network of e-sports venues. The arena will be in a 30,000 square foot space, and upon completion, it is poised to be the best place for video gamers to converge and battle it out on a range of e-sports. The Esports Arena will have
- Telescopic seating
- 50-foot LED video wall
- Advanced production and streaming studios
- Food and beverage by celebrity chef Jose Andres
- A competition stage
- Daily gaming stations
According to Allied Esports CEO, Jud Hannigan, the Esports Arena will offer gamers a ready to go championship destination for high-stakes matchups, leaguers, and tournaments in a setting designed to offer unparalleled fan viewing.
Record Low Numbers in 2016
The Esports Arena comes hot on the heels of the Millennial Esports Arena, which opened its doors to the public in 2017. There is also growing interest among other Las Vegas establishments to join the fray. The dwindling number of visitors to the gambling capital of the world is one of the reasons that many establishments are looking to offer diversity. Reports show that 2016 experienced record low numbers and e-sports seems the way out to attract the millennial generation to the city and revert Las Vegas to its former glory.
